Why choose organic tea from Thés & Traditions?

Choosing organic tea means choosing a purer, more authentic and more responsible cup. Grown without pesticides, chemical fertilisers or synthetic inputs, our teas let the full richness of their terroir speak for itself: the clarity of a Chinese garden, the intensity of an Indian Assam, the gentle floral character of a premium Japanese cultivar.

Our commitment goes well beyond a certification label. Every organic tea in our catalogue is sourced directly from certified partner gardens, with rigorous traceability at every step. The result: a crystal-clear infusion, whole leaves with their aromas fully intact, and the assurance of a truly premium tasting experience.

Organic tea, loose-leaf and pesticide-free: the winning combination

Organic loose-leaf tea remains the ideal format for preserving essential oils and allowing the full range of aromatic notes to unfold. Unlike mass-produced tea bags, our whole leaves retain their structure, their freshness and their potential for multiple infusions. All our teas are certified under organic farming standards (AB certification), guaranteeing a complete absence of chemical residues.

Our organic tea range by family

To help you find your perfect cup, here is an overview of our main families of organic teas, each with its own personality and ideal moments.

Organic green tea: freshness, lightness and antioxidants

Our selection of organic green teas brings together a wide variety: delicate Sencha, full-bodied Gunpowder, everyday smooth Bancha, and fragrant creations with jasmine, mint and fruit. A wonderful choice throughout the day, balancing vegetal freshness with a wealth of polyphenols.

Organic black tea: character and depth

Lovers of bold, rounded flavours will find plenty to savour in our organic black teas: bergamot Earl Grey, indulgent chocolate-vanilla blends, and fine Chinese and Indian single-origin teas. The perfect companion for slow mornings and cosy afternoons.

Organic white tea: delicacy in its purest form

Crafted from the youngest buds, our organic white teas reveal a rare and gentle refinement. Pai Mu Tan, Yin Zhen or floral creations, their naturally low caffeine content makes them an ideal companion for the end of the day.

Organic Rooibos and herbal infusions: caffeine-free, 100% wellbeing

For a moment of calm without the buzz, our organic Rooibos and plant infusions (chamomile, verbena, peppermint, ginger) are the answer. Naturally caffeine-free, they are welcome at any hour, including in the evening.

Organic matcha: Japan's emerald powder

Our ceremony-grade organic matcha is carefully harvested to preserve its chlorophyll and amino acids. Whisk it with a chasen for a vibrant latte, or fold it into your baking.

Organic Oolong tea: between green and black, a full aromatic palette

Semi-oxidised and endlessly nuanced, our organic Oolong teas reveal a unique aromatic range: floral, honeyed, fruity or toasty notes depending on the degree of oxidation. An afternoon favourite for those who love complexity.

Organic Pu-erh: China's fermented tea

Our organic Pu-erh teas from Yunnan are fermented using age-old techniques. Deep, earthy, sometimes woody, they offer a truly singular experience and only improve with time. Traditionally recognised as a digestive in Chinese medicine.

Organic Yerba Mate: South America's social brew

Our Argentine and Brazilian organic Yerba Mate delivers a gentle, sustained lift thanks to its naturally occurring mateine. Perfect for mornings or long study sessions, enjoyed in the traditional gaucho style or in a more contemporary way.

Selected by Julien Huot, tea expert at Thés & Traditions

"Organic tea isn't a marketing choice, it's an agricultural standard. When you steep a tea for 3 to 5 minutes in 90°C water, everything that was sprayed on the leaf ends up in your cup. Choosing organic means a cleaner infusion, purer on the palate, and support for farming that works with nature rather than against it. That's why we made organic the default at T&T, not an option."

Thés & Traditions' commitment to organic tea

Every organic tea in our collection is selected with the same rigour we apply to our finest teas: systematic tasting, direct traceability with producers, and certification checks. We work closely with partner gardens in China, Japan, India, Sri Lanka and Africa, all of whom share our vision of tea that is pure, generous and responsibly grown.

That commitment shapes a coherent range: exceptional organic teas such as organic Bancha and our rare single-origin teas, refined flavoured blends, and herbal infusions chosen for their authenticity.

How to brew your organic tea to bring out its full aroma

A great infusion comes down to three simple parameters: temperature, time and quantity.

Temperature and steeping time by tea type

  • Organic green tea: 70–80°C water, steep for 2 to 3 minutes
  • Organic white tea: 75–80°C water, steep for 4 to 7 minutes
  • Organic black tea: 90–95°C water, steep for 3 to 5 minutes
  • Organic Oolong: 85–90°C water, steep for 3 to 5 minutes
  • Organic Rooibos: 95°C water, steep for 5 to 7 minutes
  • Organic Matcha: 70–80°C water, whisked with a chasen for 30 seconds

Quantity and water

Use 2 to 3 grams of leaves per 200 ml cup, or 12 to 15 grams per litre. Opt for filtered, low-mineral water, which won't mask the delicate aromas of your premium organic tea. Hard or heavily chlorinated water will inevitably dull the result.

Online shop, workshop and boutique in Simiane-Collongue

Beyond our online shop, we welcome tea lovers at our workshop in Simiane-Collongue (near Aix-en-Provence) for tasting sessions and hands-on time with our whole-leaf teas. You'll leave with personalised guidance and a desire to explore new varieties.

Our organic certification and zero-pesticide commitment

All of our loose-leaf teas are rigorously verified: the European organic label prohibits the use of synthetic chemical fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides and GMOs. We work with producers who have shared this commitment for years, and we sample every batch before it enters our catalogue. For us, AB certification isn't an administrative formality: it's the tangible expression of farming that respects nature, terroir and the people who drink the tea. Read our complete guide to loose-leaf organic tea to understand all the benefits of this format.

From Oolong to flavoured tea: a world of flavour

Our catalogue grows regularly with new and distinctive teas: organic Oolong with toasted, buttery notes, tonka bean flavoured tea, fruity goji berry blends, warming pear and gingerbread blends, and floral orange blossom creations. Each blend is crafted in our Provençal workshop to deliver a distinctive and memorable experience, true to our organic ethos. We pay particular attention to the balance of aromas, producing a cup that is expressive and harmonious, free from pesticides and additives.

Frequently Asked Questions About Organic Tea

Here you'll find answers to the most common questions about our selection of organic teas.

What is the difference between organic tea and conventional tea?

Organic tea is grown without pesticides, herbicides, synthetic chemical fertilisers or GMOs. The leaves retain all of their natural compounds (polyphenols, catechins, vitamins) and express their terroir without interference. In the cup, you'll notice a cleaner infusion, more defined aromas and a longer finish. To learn more, read our article on why to choose organic tea.

Which organic certifications should you look for?

The most widely recognised certification in France is the AB label (Agriculture Biologique). At the European level, the Eurofeuille logo certifies compliance with EU organic standards. For imported teas, you may also come across USDA Organic (United States) or JAS (Japan). All of our organic teas at Thés & Traditions are certified AB or an equivalent international standard. Full details are available in our guide to organic tea certifications.

Is organic tea better for your health?

Organic farming ensures the absence of pesticide residues in the final drink, which represents an important health consideration according to research by the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) and ANSES on food contaminants. Untreated leaves also tend to preserve their natural antioxidants more effectively.

Why buy loose-leaf organic tea?

Loose-leaf organic tea offers three key advantages: superior freshness (volatile aromas are better preserved than in a paper tea bag), a more aromatic infusion (whole leaves unfurl freely in the water), and a more eco-conscious choice (no individual packaging). Explore our full guide to loose-leaf organic tea.

How should I store my organic tea?

Keep your tea in an airtight tin or ceramic caddy, away from light, heat, moisture and strong odours. Avoid storing it in the fridge. Properly stored, an organic tea will hold its aromas for 12 to 18 months after opening. Browse our range of tea caddies designed for the purpose.

Can organic tea be steeped more than once?

Absolutely, especially fine green teas, oolongs and white teas. Simply increase the steeping time slightly with each re-infusion. Each cup will reveal a new aromatic dimension, a genuine journey for the senses.
