Keemun: a Chinese black tea low in theine

Keemun tea is produced in Qimen County, located in China's Anhui province. This black tea, also called Qimen tea, was first produced in 1875. It was the first black tea from Qimen County, which originally produced green teas. Qimen tea has become one of the most prized teas, particularly in England. This red beverage also possesses numerous virtues, just like other black teas such as Darjeeling, Ceylon tea, and Yunnan tea.

The benefits and virtues of Keemun

Qimen tea and various other black teas are known to offer numerous benefits to their consumers. These teas indeed have a high concentration of antioxidants. Black teas like Keemun tea, Ceylon tea, Yunnan tea or Darjeeling would help fight against the risk of:

  • cardiovascular diseases;
  • cancers;
  • type 2 diabetes;
  • cholesterol.

A Keemun tea leaf infusion would also improve digestion. Consumed daily, this black tea, combined with a balanced diet, would therefore be an ally of your health.

Our tasting tips

How to prepare Keemun?

Black teas and green teas do not steep in the same way. Different teas indeed need a specific temperature and a particular steeping time to release their optimal aroma. Here's how to get the best from our Keemun tea.

How much Keemun?

For a well-measured brew, use 12 grams of Keemun tea per liter of water. To make filtering your drink easier, use a tea ball or empty tea bag in your cup or teapot.

What is the ideal steeping temperature for Keemun?

To prepare a delicious Keemun tea, the water should reach a temperature of 100°C. Allow two to four minutes of steeping for the fruity and slightly sweet aroma to release.

When to drink Keemun?

Unlike some black teas, Qimen tea is low in theine. From breakfast to coffee break or bedtime, it can therefore be consumed throughout the day.

The benefits of loose Keemun

Choosing to buy our loose tea ensures you get quality organic tea that respects sustainable and fair harvest conditions. Keemun tea, like many other teas, is available in loose form on our website.
To preserve the quality of our products, our blends are handmade and packed in ziplock bags and metal tins in our Dijon workshops. Our products are thus easily preserved and maintain their freshness.
