At a glance: an organic Assam black tea blended with date, fig, lemon peel, cacao and cinnamon. Brew at 100°C for 3 to 5 min, 12 to 15 g/L.

Our date, fig and lemon black tea is an indulgent creation that brings together the depth of an organic Assam and the natural sweetness of dried fruits. A cup that is rounded, fruity and bright all at once, crafted to accompany your mornings and afternoon breaks.

This blend is built on contrast: the black tea base lends body, the date and fig add a honeyed roundness, while the lemon peel cuts through with a lively, zesty note. Crushed cacao nibs and cinnamon round out the warm profile with a subtly spiced touch. Explore our Ceylon and Darjeeling black teas to discover the full range of flavours at the house.

The flavour profile of the date, fig and lemon black tea

The moment you open the pouch, the aroma rises: stewed dried fruit, candied peel, a whisper of cacao. A delicious invitation that promises an enveloping cup.

Top notes: organic lemon peel (3% of the recipe) bursts in with freshness. It energises the cup and brings the bright character that makes this blend so distinctive.

Heart notes: organic date (24% of the recipe) unfolds its honeyed sweetness, supported by fig (3%) and raisin. These dried fruits, lightly coated in rice flour to preserve their texture, give the infusion a naturally sweet roundness, with no added sugar.

Base notes: the organic Assam black tea provides its malty structure, underlined by crushed cacao nibs and cinnamon sticks. Immortelle flowers and purple echinacea add a delicate floral touch that brings the whole blend into balance.

This warm, fruity profile makes this cup an ideal companion for the morning and throughout the day. For another indulgent experience, try our petit biscuit black tea, with its buttery, pastry-like character.

How to brew the date, fig and lemon black tea

To bring out the full aroma of this organic blend, four things matter: water quality, the right dose, temperature and steeping time.

Water: choose a low-mineral water, freshly drawn and brought to 100°C. Hard water can mask the delicate notes of the lemon and fig.

Dose: use 12 to 15 g per litre, roughly a heaped teaspoon for a generous 250 ml cup. The fruit pieces take up volume, so don't be too sparing.

Steeping time: steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Three minutes for a brighter, zestier cup; five minutes to draw out the honeyed roundness of the date and fig. Beyond that, the Assam may begin to turn bitter.

Equipment: use a wide-mesh filter or a French press teapot: the pieces of date, fig and cinnamon sticks need space to release their aromas fully.

For an iced version, double the dose, brew hot then pour over ice: the lemon note comes alive with even more sparkle. You can also explore our black tea comparison guide to find the style that suits your taste.

Storing the date, fig and lemon black tea

Keep this organic black tea in its original tin or in an airtight, opaque container, away from light, moisture, heat and strong odours. Blended in our workshop, it is best enjoyed within 18 months of opening to fully appreciate the brightness of the lemon and the soft warmth of the dried fruits.
