In a nutshell: our organic English Breakfast black tea is a blend of Assam and Ceylon, full-bodied with a golden liquor. Brew at 100°C for 3 to 5 minutes, 12 g/L.

English Breakfast tea is one of the great signatures of the British morning ritual. Our organic version brings together two iconic black teas for a perfect balance of strength and roundness.

Carefully blended in our workshop, this tea reflects the expertise of our house: combining organic teas with complementary characters to reveal a clean, structured, deeply aromatic cup. Explore our classic black teas to continue the journey.

The aroma profile of our English Breakfast

This blend unites two complementary origins. Assam, grown in India, brings the boldness, malty notes and tannic structure characteristic of great Indian black teas. Ceylon tempers the whole with its brightness and subtly woody, almost citrusy finish.

In the cup, the color is deep copper, almost amber. The flavor is direct and full-bodied, with a beautiful length on the palate. It is a robust black tea, yet never astringent when properly brewed, and perfectly at home with a splash of milk in the English style.

The nose opens on malty notes, accented with hints of cocoa and noble wood. It is a comforting aroma, immediately associated with the morning ritual, that lingers long in the cup.

To explore other characters, try our Darjeeling FTGFOP1 2nd flush black tea, more floral and delicate, or read the essential black teas according to experts.

How to brew English Breakfast tea

A great infusion comes down to four simple parameters:

  • Water: brought to a full boil at 100°C, ideally low in minerals
  • Quantity: 12 g per litre, roughly a heaped teaspoon per cup
  • Time: 3 to 5 minutes, depending on the strength you prefer
  • Accessories: a wide-filter teapot or a roomy tea infuser, to allow the leaves to fully unfurl

Three minutes yields a bright, nuanced brew; five minutes gives a bolder cup that pairs beautifully with milk, in the classic British way. Enjoy it plain at breakfast with buttered toast, or mid-morning alongside a pastry.

Warm your teapot with a little hot water before brewing: this simple step stabilizes the temperature and brings out the full aroma of the blend. Avoid steeping beyond five minutes, as this can draw out bitterness from the tannins.

Storage

Store the leaves in an airtight container, away from light, moisture and strong odors. An opaque metal tin or a ceramic canister works perfectly. Properly stored, this tea retains its full aroma for several months after opening.
