Jasmine, vanilla and bergamot! This delightful blend is one of a kind
Vanilla Tea
A vanilla tea is a cup that wraps around you: round, smooth, and indulgent. The vanilla pod softens the character of the tea and gives it a dessert-like quality, with no need for added sugar. Black, green, white, oolong or matcha: explore our vanilla-flavoured loose-leaf teas, with rich, indulgent aromas, largely sourced from organic farming.
Our vanilla teas
Depending on the tea base and the notes that accompany it, this spice tells a different story every time: pastry-like with caramel, floral with rose, fruity with peach or citrus. Here is our selection, variety by variety.
Vanilla black tea: the timeless classic
Our organic vanilla black tea brings together an Assam with real vanilla and its natural extract: an amber, rounded and warming cup with smooth, mellow notes, perfect for starting the day. For something more indulgent, the Vanilla Caramel black tea adds salted butter caramel from Guérande. Petit Biscuit plays on speculoos and cinnamon with cocoa nibs, while Alice's Garden pairs cherry with caramel. On the floral side, Temple of Buddha blends vanilla with bergamot, much like an Earl Grey, and jasmine flowers: a refined, fragrant black tea.
Vanilla green tea: gentle and refreshing
On a green tea base, the fragrance becomes lighter and the cup more delicate. Our organic Vanilla Cinnamon green tea combines a delicate Sencha with apple pieces, orange peel and rose petals. The organic Jingpo green tea pairs vanilla with orange peel for a rounded, luminous infusion that sits somewhere between fruit and sweetness.
White tea and oolong: the most delicate expressions
Our organic Vanilla Rose white tea is built around a Pai Mu Tan with rose petals: a floral, velvety cup. The organic Peach Vanilla Oolong weaves together Oolong and Sencha with peach and candied ginger.
Vanilla matcha: silky smooth, perfect as a latte
Our vanilla matcha blends Japanese matcha with natural vanilla powder: whisked into a little water and topped with warm milk, it makes a soft, plant-forward latte. The vanilla matcha latte is ready to prepare in moments, for those mornings when time is short.
How to choose your vanilla tea?
Which tea base?
A black tea gives a full-bodied cup that vanilla rounds out beautifully: it's the natural choice for morning, and the base that works best with a splash of milk. Green tea stays lighter and fresher, better suited to the afternoon. White tea or oolong offer a more subtle softness, best enjoyed on their own.
Vanilla alone or blended?
To savour the spice itself, go for the Vanilla black tea. If you're drawn to pastry-style flavours, caramel, speculoos or shortbread blends are worth exploring: browse our indulgent teas or, towards the end of the year, our Christmas teas. For a more floral or fruity note, rose, peach or orange pair wonderfully with vanilla.
What about caffeine-free options?
All the teas on this page contain caffeine. For evenings, rooibos steps in: our organic Vanilla Rooibos is a gentle herbal infusion, naturally caffeine-free.
Pod, extract or flavouring: what goes into a vanilla tea?
Vanilla is the fruit of a climbing orchid. Its pods, carefully cured over a long period, develop a rich and mellow aroma; the best-known variety is Bourbon vanilla, grown in Madagascar and Réunion. In a flavoured tea, it adds roundness and a lovely aromatic balance: its warm notes soften the natural bitterness of the tea. Depending on the blend, a mix may contain pieces of vanilla pod, vanilla extract or a natural flavouring. This is a good quality indicator: the full composition of each product is listed on its page.
Organic and loose-leaf
A large part of this selection is organically grown: the certification status of each tea is shown on its product page, along with its full list of ingredients. All are sold loose-leaf, so the leaves have room to open fully in the water.
Brewing tips: how to make the perfect vanilla tea
Quantity, temperature and steeping time
Use 12 to 15 g of tea per litre, roughly one teaspoon per cup. Black tea steeps for 3 to 5 minutes in near-boiling water. Green tea and oolong prefer water at 80 °C and 2 to 3 minutes. White tea is the most delicate: 60 to 65 °C and 2 minutes is all it needs. Water that is too hot or steeping that goes too long brings out bitterness and masks the warm scent of the vanilla pod.
With milk, as a latte or iced
Vanilla black tea lends itself beautifully to a latte, topped with a warm, velvety foam. Matcha is whisked first in a little water at 70 to 80 °C, then lengthened with milk. In summer, brew a slightly stronger infusion, let it cool and pour over ice, just like our iced teas.
In the kitchen
Steep a vanilla black tea for a few minutes in the base of a rice pudding, a custard or a crêpe batter: it brings both the fragrance of the tea and the warmth of the pod. Vanilla matcha, meanwhile, slips naturally into a loaf cake or shortbread biscuits.
Frequently Asked Questions About Vanilla Tea
What is vanilla tea?
Vanilla tea is a black, green, white, or oolong tea blended with vanilla, whether in the form of pod pieces, extract, or natural flavoring depending on the recipe. The exact ingredients of each blend are listed on its product page.
Does vanilla tea contain caffeine?
Yes, since it is made from tea leaves. For a caffeine-free vanilla drink, opt for a Rooibos, sometimes called red tea, or an herbal infusion.
What does vanilla tea taste like?
Smooth and rounded, with a gently sweet quality even though it contains no added sugar in its natural form. On a black tea base, it feels warm and indulgent, like a pastry; on a green or white tea, it is lighter and more floral.
Can you add milk to vanilla tea?
Yes, especially with a black tea base: milk brings out its dessert-like richness. Avoid it with green or white teas, which are more delicate and would be overwhelmed.
When is the best time to drink vanilla tea?
Any time of day: a black vanilla tea in the morning, a green or white variety in the afternoon, or alongside a slice of cake, crêpes, or a few biscuits at tea time. In the evening, choose a caffeine-free infusion instead.
How should vanilla tea be stored?
In its original bag, tightly sealed, or better yet, in an airtight tea caddy, away from light, heat, and humidity. Keep it separate from unflavored teas as its aroma travels easily.
