In a nutshell: An organic Lavender Garden green tea, Sencha + lavender + peppermint + vanilla. Steep 12 to 15 g/L at 70-80°C for 2 to 3 minutes for a floral, smooth and soothing cup.

Picture a lavender field at the end of the day, the air still warm, the scent of purple blooms drifting in on a breath of fresh mint. That is precisely the feeling our Lavender Garden green tea is crafted to bring back, cup after cup.

This organic blend is built around a delicate Sencha, lifted by lavender flowers, whole peppermint leaves, mallow and a touch of vanilla extract that rounds everything out. A floral, gently indulgent creation that sits naturally among our house green teas.

If you enjoy floral pairings, explore our spearmint range as well, brighter and more refreshing, a lovely complement to this lavender-led blend.

The aromatic profile of Lavender Garden

From the moment you open the tin, the fragrance is instant: lavender leads the way, floral and faintly sweet, followed closely by a cool rush of menthol. Vanilla stays quietly in the background, like a gentle, indulgent veil.

Top notes: blooming lavender, bright peppermint, a fresh and aromatic first breath that wakes the palate without overwhelming it.

Heart notes: the organic Sencha opens up with its soft vegetal character, fresh-grass and young-shoot notes. Mallow adds a silky, almost velvety texture that mellows the liquor.

Base notes: vanilla wraps the finish in quiet sweetness, leaving a lingering, softly floral aftertaste. No single aroma dominates; balance is everything here.

The liquor, a tender green edging toward gold, is fluid and effortless on the palate. This is a floral infusion that never feels heavy, fresh without being sharp, gently indulgent without a hint of excessive sweetness.

How to brew Lavender Garden green tea

A flavoured green tea rewards a little care, bringing out every nuance in the cup. Here are the parameters our house recommends for a truly successful brew.

  • Dosage: 12 to 15 g per litre, roughly one heaped tablespoon per 500 ml of water, or a generous teaspoon per cup.
  • Temperature: 70 to 80°C. Never bring the water to a full boil: the Sencha would turn bitter and the lavender would lose its delicacy.
  • Steeping time: 2 to 3 minutes. Beyond that, the tannins in the green tea begin to overshadow the floral notes.
  • Water: choose a low-mineral water, such as Volvic or filtered tap water, to preserve the blend's finesse.

If you don't have a temperature-controlled kettle, bring the water to a gentle simmer, then let it rest for 2 to 3 minutes before pouring over the leaves. It is a simple step that makes all the difference.

For an iced version, double the dosage and cold-brew in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 hours. The lavender and mint come through with a remarkable freshness, perfect for warm summer days.

Wellbeing and the pleasure of the cup

This blend combines two plants long valued for their properties: green tea and lavender. According to the EFSA, green tea naturally contains polyphenols (including catechins) studied for their antioxidant activity.

Lavender, for its part, has long been used in European herbal traditions to support relaxation, as noted by the ANSES in its monographs on aromatic plants. It lends a sense of calm to the cup, especially welcome toward the end of the day.

Peppermint, the final piece of the blend, is traditionally associated with digestive comfort. A cup after a meal can easily become a gentle, rewarding ritual.

Julien Huot, founder of Thés & Traditions, composed this blend to offer a drink that is both sensory and purposeful: an aromatic pleasure that fits naturally into a daily wellness routine.

Storage

Packaged in our workshop, this tea stays fresh when stored in an airtight container, away from light, moisture and strong odours. An opaque metal tin is ideal.

Avoid the refrigerator (too much moisture) and keep it away from spices or coffee. For the best experience, use within 18 months of opening: floral notes are more volatile than those of a plain tea, and they are worth protecting.

Frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of lavender green tea?
This blend pairs the antioxidant polyphenols of green tea (as recognised by the EFSA) with lavender, traditionally used to support relaxation. Peppermint adds a cooling effect often appreciated after meals for digestive comfort.

How do you prepare a lavender infusion?
Use about 1 teaspoon of flowers per 250 ml of near-boiling water (90°C). Steep for 5 minutes, then strain. For our Lavender Garden, which also contains Sencha, lower the temperature to 70-80°C and keep steeping time to 2-3 minutes.

Where can I buy organic lavender green tea?
Thés & Traditions offers this blend loose-leaf, certified organic. The leaves and flowers are carefully selected to ensure a floral, refined and well-balanced cup.

What are the main varieties of lavender?
The principal varieties are true lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), the finest and most fragrant, lavandin (a more productive hybrid) and spike lavender. True lavender is favoured in herbal traditions and tea blending for its aromatic delicacy.

What types of lavender teas are there?
Lavender pairs beautifully with green teas (Sencha, Bancha) for fresh, floral cups, with white teas for added subtlety, or with herbal infusions (mallow, verbena) for a caffeine-free option. Also discover our Organic Kunming White Tea with lavender, rosemary and lemon.
