At a glance: A bright, refreshing organic lemon basil herbal infusion made with apple, lemongrass, lemon peel and basil. Brew at 100°C for 7 to 10 minutes, 12 to 15 g/L. Caffeine-free, perfect after a meal.

Our lemon basil infusion draws on the simplest Mediterranean pairings: an aromatic leaf, a bright zest, a cup of steaming water. A caffeine-free drink you can enjoy in the morning, in the afternoon, or in the evening.

Julien Huot, owner of Thés & Traditions, crafted this recipe using certified organic ingredients, for a cup that is honest, balanced and genuinely delicious. Explore our wellness infusions to continue the journey.

The aromatic profile of the lemon basil herbal infusion

The moment you open the packet, the scent of lemon rises up, carried by the lemon peel (11%) and a hint of organic lime essential oil. Basil (8%) weaves in as a counterpoint, herbaceous and lightly peppery, lending the blend its distinctive character.

On the palate, apple and quince bring a rounded fruitiness that softens the tang of the zest. Lemongrass extends the freshness, while marigold flowers tint the infusion a bright, almost golden yellow.

The result: a lively, elegant cup, naturally sweetened by the fruit, with no need for added sugar. Equally delicious served warm or as a homemade iced tea, it is perfect in the garden on a summer afternoon.

How to prepare the lemon basil herbal infusion

Use 12 to 15 g of loose leaf per litre of water, brought to 100°C. Steep for 7 to 10 minutes depending on the strength you prefer. The longer the steep, the more the basil comes forward and the more pronounced the herbaceous note becomes.

Choose a low-mineral water to preserve the delicacy of the lemon and the purity of the flavour. A fine strainer or a generously sized tea infuser will allow the leaves to unfurl freely, which is key to a good extraction.

For the ideal iced version in July: brew hot, then leave to cool before adding ice, a slice of fresh lemon and, for those who enjoy it, a few fresh basil leaves from the garden. A simple, thirst-quenching recipe that works beautifully in a pitcher.

Traditional benefits

Basil has traditionally been used to support digestive comfort after meals, a use documented in the herbal medicine recommendations of the ANSES. Lemon, rich in aromatic compounds, brings a refreshing quality that is widely appreciated.

Caffeine-free, this infusion is a natural choice for the evening and fits within the uses of aromatic plants assessed by the EFSA. Try it after a generous dinner for a light, fragrant close to the meal.

Storage

Store the herbal infusion in its original tin or an airtight container, away from light, moisture and strong odours. The bright aromas of basil and lemon will stay vivid for several months.
