At a glance: Our organic plain Rooibos comes from South Africa. Brew at 100°C for 7 to 10 minutes, using 15 to 20 g/L. Caffeine-free, perfect at any hour.

Deep in South Africa's Cederberg region grows a shrub found nowhere else on earth: Aspalathus linearis. From its leaves comes our organic plain Rooibos, selected by Julien Huot, founder of Thés & Traditions, for its aromatic purity and natural balance.

No added flavourings, no blending: only the sun-dried red needles of the bush, allowed to speak for themselves. Browse our Rooibos selection to explore further.

The aromatic profile of plain Rooibos

In the cup, this Rooibos unfolds a warm, luminous amber-red colour. The nose opens on delicate, almost sweet woody notes, evoking sandalwood and freshly cut hay.

On the palate, the infusion reveals a honeyed, indulgent heart, finishing with a gentle hint of vanilla. The shrub's natural roundness wins over even the most discerning of palates, with no trace of bitterness.

This profile makes it a pleasure for the whole family, morning to evening, all year round. It is simplicity at its finest: a gentle pause that fits as naturally into breakfast as it does into a quiet evening by the fire.

How to brew plain Rooibos

To bring out the full richness of this infusion, use 15 to 20 grams per litre of water at a rolling boil, 100°C. Unlike green or white teas, Rooibos handles fully boiling water beautifully.

Steep for 7 to 10 minutes depending on the strength you prefer. The longer the steep, the rounder and more honeyed the cup becomes, with no bitterness developing at any stage — a welcome trait for those who lose track of time.

For an iced version, double the quantity and steep cold overnight in the refrigerator: the result is a naturally sweet, thirst-quenching drink, ideal for warmer days. Try brewing plain Rooibos in a family-sized teapot to share the moment.

Storage

Packaged in our workshop, this Rooibos keeps best in an airtight tin, away from light, heat and strong odours. Properly stored, it retains its aromas for 18 to 24 months.
