Organic Blueberry Ginger Rooibos: the brightness of wild berries
Our organic Blueberry Ginger Rooibos is a distinctive herbal infusion that brings together the gentle base of unfermented green rooibos, the warming spice of ginger (31%), the fresh fruitiness of wild blueberry, and herbaceous notes of basil, blackberry leaf, elderflower and lemon myrtle. A rich, invigorating and antioxidant-packed blend, naturally caffeine-free, perfect for a winter wellness routine or as a coffee alternative.
Ingredients: green rooibos, ginger, blueberry and botanicals
A generous recipe: green rooibos, ginger (31%), blackberry leaves, basil, elderflowers, natural blueberry flavouring, wild blueberry (3%), lemon myrtle, cornflower petals. All organic. The high proportion of ginger (31%) makes for a particularly energising infusion. The green rooibos base (unfermented) delivers a more delicate profile than classic red rooibos, along with a higher level of antioxidants. Wild blueberries and elderflowers add their natural richness in flavonoids.
How it compares to other Thés & Traditions rooibos blends
- Blueberry Ginger Rooibos (this blend): green rooibos base + 31% ginger + wild blueberry
- Ginger Lemon Rooibos: a trio of ginger, lemon and lemongrass
- Wild Berry Rooibos: centred on red fruits (strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant)
- Green Rooibos: 100% unflavoured green rooibos

Why green rooibos as the base?
Green rooibos (unfermented) was chosen specifically for this blend because of its aromatic delicacy. Where an oxidised red rooibos would have overshadowed the subtle notes of blueberry and basil, green rooibos lets every added ingredient express itself. It also brings a higher concentration of antioxidants (notably aspalathine), making this an even more nourishing cup.
Wellness properties
- Green rooibos: specific antioxidants, naturally caffeine-free (source: EMA herbal monograph, Aspalathus linearis).
- Ginger: supports digestion, eases nausea, bolsters immune response (EMA herbal monograph, Zingiberis rhizoma).
- Wild blueberry: anthocyanins, traditionally valued for circulation and vision.
- Elderflower: flavonoids, a long European tradition of supporting natural defences.
- Blackberry leaf, basil, lemon myrtle: complementary botanicals, plant-based antioxidants.
- Caffeine-free: suitable for the whole family.
Tasting profile: spicy, fruity, herbaceous
This infusion brews to a golden colour with soft blue glints (courtesy of the cornflower petals). On the nose, ginger leads with its lively warmth, followed by the tangy brightness of blueberry and a quiet herbaceous undercurrent. The first sip is bold and dynamic thanks to the generous ginger (31%), then the smoothness of green rooibos opens up alongside the cool freshness of blueberry. A delicate herbaceous finish lingers, carrying basil and lemon myrtle. No bitterness, just a vivid and thirst-quenching cup.
Brewing guide
How to brew
Place the leaves in a teapot. Boiling water at 100°C. Cover to keep the berry aromas in. Ginger handles the heat perfectly.
How much to use
Use 15 to 20 g per litre, or 4-5 g per 250 ml cup. The strong ginger presence makes for an intense infusion even at a moderate dose.
Steeping time
Steep for 7 to 10 minutes. Ginger and elderflowers need time to release their active compounds.
When to drink
Any time of day: in the morning to get going, after meals to aid digestion, in winter to support your defences, or over a few weeks as an antioxidant boost. Caffeine-free, so it works just as well in the evening.
Recipe ideas: iced tea, spiced latte, mocktail
- Iced tea: cold-brew for 6 hours, pour over ice, add fresh blueberries and a sprig of mint
- Blueberry latte: brew a strong concentrate, add oat milk, a drizzle of maple syrup and a strip of lemon zest
- Tonic mocktail: chilled rooibos + fresh ginger juice + blueberry syrup + sparkling water
- In the kitchen: use as a flavoured stock to infuse a blueberry risotto
