At a glance: a bright, citrusy organic Supergreen detox green tea blending Sencha, Matcha, Pai Mu Tan, green maté and nettle. Brew at 70-80°C for 2-3 min, 12-15 g/L.

Picture a clear, faintly golden cup releasing a fresh scent of lemon and lemongrass. Our green tea Supergreen is a blend conceived as a breath of fresh air, a lively pause between the moments of your day. It brings together tender leaves, green plants and citrus peel to create a bright, rounded and invigorating infusion.

This organic detox green tea is neither austere nor medicinal. It's meant to be savoured for pleasure, chosen the way you'd pick a seasonal drink, before any thought of its benefits. That dual promise of enjoyment and vitality is what makes it one of the best-sellers in our range.

Julien Huot, founder of Thés & Traditions, crafted this recipe around a simple ritual: one cup in the morning to get the day going, another in the afternoon to sharpen focus. Explore our organic green teas and let yourself be carried by this balance.

The Aromatic Profile of Supergreen

The blend opens on bright citrus notes. Lemon peel, natural lemon aroma and lime essential oil deliver a clean, almost sparkling first impression that wakes the palate within seconds.

Then comes the green heart. China Sencha, making up 43% of the blend, unfolds a herbaceous roundness with a faint marine quality, typical of a steam-processed green tea. Matcha, added as a finishing touch, brings depth and a soft green hue to the liquor.

In the background, green maté (16%) contributes a freshly cut plant note, almost grassy, supported by nettle (11%) and lemongrass. Ginger, kept subtle, slides in a gentle warmth that lingers on the palate. Pai Mu Tan white tea softens the whole with a silky, floral veil.

The result: a balanced infusion, at once lively and gentle, where each organic ingredient plays its part without overshadowing the others. Browse our other organic green teas if you enjoy this kind of bright, citrus-forward blend.

Tasting Notes

  • Top: lemon, lime, lemongrass, bright zest.
  • Heart: herbaceous Sencha, velvety Matcha, fresh maté.
  • Base: green nettle, ginger, floral white tea.

How to Brew Supergreen Green Tea

Preparation makes all the difference. Green tea calls for lower temperatures to reveal its smoothness without bitterness. Here are the recommended parameters for this blend.

Water: filtered, low in minerals, heated to 70-80°C. Higher temperatures cause the Sencha and Matcha to release too many tannins, making the brew sharp. If you don't have a temperature-controlled kettle, let boiling water cool for 2 to 3 minutes off the heat before pouring. Hard water can mask the citrus freshness, so a soft spring water is preferable.

Quantity: 12 to 15 grams per litre, roughly a heaped tablespoon for a 500 ml teapot. Adjust to taste: a little more for a bolder character, a little less for a more delicate cup.

Steeping time: 2 to 3 minutes. Keep an eye on the timer as Sencha doesn't take well to long steeping. Remove the leaves as soon as the time is up to preserve the citrus freshness and the smoothness of the Matcha.

When to enjoy it: any time of day, as an alternative to an afternoon coffee or a companion for a reading break. If you enjoy these rituals, also read When to drink green tea for tips on timing your cup to your routine.

Served Cold

This blend lends itself beautifully to cold brewing. Use 15 g per litre of cold water, leave to steep for 1 to 2 hours in the refrigerator, then strain. The result is a refreshing drink, perfect for summer or after exercise. A slice of fresh lemon and a few mint leaves turn this into a natural detox water, with no added sugar.

The cold-brewed version keeps for 24 hours in a covered pitcher in the fridge. Beyond that, the Matcha aromas fade and the liquor loses its brightness. Prepare small batches to enjoy that citrusy sparkle at its best with every serving.

The Traditional Virtues of a Tonic Blend

The ingredients in this blend have long been part of everyday wellness rituals. Green tea, rich in catechins, is recognised for helping protect cells against oxidative stress, according to scientific opinions published by the EFSA. These compounds are among the most studied polyphenols in the world.

Green maté and Matcha provide natural caffeine that supports alertness and concentration. This stimulation is gentler and more sustained than that of coffee, as it is released gradually during digestion.

Nettle is traditionally used to support the body's elimination functions, as noted by the ANSES in its plant monographs. Combined with ginger and lemongrass, it makes for an ideal seasonal drink, particularly appreciated after periods of richer eating.

Good to know: this blend contains caffeine. If you're sensitive to stimulants, enjoy it earlier in the day rather than in the evening.

Storage

Packed in our workshop, this tea keeps best away from light, moisture and strong odours. An opaque tin or a resealable airtight pouch are the best allies for preserving the citrus aromas and the vibrant colour of the Matcha for 12 to 18 months.

Avoid storing in the refrigerator, as repeated opening causes moisture fluctuations. A dry, temperate cupboard away from spices and coffee is all you need. Enjoy our organic green teas within six months of opening for the fullest freshness.
