At a glance: Huashi green tea is an organic blend of Sencha and White Monkey with apple, redcurrant, hibiscus and pink pepper. Brew 12–15 g/L at 70–80°C for 2 to 3 minutes.

Huashi green tea, also spelled hua shi, is one of our most vibrant creations. A blend where the freshness of green tea meets the rounded sweetness of apple and the bright, tangy lift of redcurrant.

This bold pairing appeals equally to lovers of floral notes and those in search of something indulgent, fresh and lightly spiced. A lively cup, perfect from morning to evening.

The Huashi Flavour Profile

It starts with two exceptional green teas. Sencha brings its characteristic vegetal brightness and a subtle briny note. White Monkey, more delicate, lends a soft, almost silky roundness in the background.

Around this base, the fruits take centre stage. Apple pieces and a green apple aroma open the cup with a fresh, crisp first impression. Redcurrant and blackcurrant follow through with a fine, vibrant acidity that feels distinctly summery.

Red hibiscus flowers give the infusion a beautiful rosy hue and add a gentle tartness. Pink pepper then brings a lightly spiced, almost resinous woody note that pleasantly surprises on the finish.

Finally, lemon peel and lime essential oil provide the bright zest that ties everything together. If you enjoy generous fruity blends, you might also love our loose-leaf red berry tea.

How to Brew Huashi Green Tea

Getting the most from this blend comes down to a mindful brew. Water that is too hot will scorch the Sencha leaves and mask those delicate fruity and floral notes.

  • Amount: 12 to 15 grams per litre, roughly 2 teaspoons for a 250 ml cup.
  • Temperature: 70 to 80°C. Let freshly boiled water rest off the heat for 2 minutes before pouring.
  • Steeping time: 2 to 3 minutes, no longer, to preserve the fruity freshness.
  • Accessories: a wide infuser or a French press teapot lets the fruit pieces and flowers open up fully.

This infusion also makes a wonderful iced tea: double the amount, brew hot, then pour straight over ice. A refreshing, naturally fruity summer drink.

Storage

Keep this blend in its original tin or an airtight container, away from light, moisture and strong odours. A cool shelf, well away from spices and coffee, will preserve the fruit's freshness and the leaves' finesse for 18 to 24 months.
