In a nutshell: A full-bodied organic black tea, rich and copper-hued, best steeped for 3 to 5 minutes at 100°C (212°F), using 13 g per litre. The perfect companion for your most demanding mornings.

Laokhowa is one of those black teas that gets straight to the point. Its cup is frank, round and deep, revealing its character within the very first moments of steeping.

Selected by Julien Huot, founder of our house, this organic tea joins our range alongside our blackcurrant black tea for those who prefer fruitier profiles. Explore our black tea collection to continue the journey.

The Aromatic Profile of Laokhowa

In the cup, the liquor reveals a bright copper-red colour, characteristic of great natural black teas. On the nose, woody and lightly malted notes emerge, underpinned by a natural roundness.

On the palate, the tea is rich and structured, with a lasting finish. No added flavourings, no perfumes: just the leaf itself, generous and certified organic. A pure tea crafted for those who appreciate character without compromise.

If you're unsure which profile suits you best, our guide to choosing a black tea will help you find the right match for any mood.

How to Brew Laokhowa Black Tea

To bring out the full richness of this infusion, follow four simple steps:

  • Water: freshly boiled, at 100°C (212°F), ideally low in minerals.
  • Quantity: 13 g per litre, roughly 2.5 g for a 200 ml cup.
  • Steeping time: 3 to 5 minutes depending on your preferred strength (3 min for a brighter cup, 5 min for a fuller, more structured body).
  • Accessories: a cast iron or porcelain teapot, or a simple loose-leaf infuser.

This tea is wonderful on its own, but also welcomes a splash of milk in the English style, softening its tannins without masking its character. Try Laokhowa as part of your morning ritual for a purposeful start to the day.

Storage

Keep the leaves in an airtight container, away from light, moisture and strong odours. Packed in our own workshop, this tea retains its aromatic freshness for 18 to 24 months after opening.
