The aromatic profile of Green Point herbal infusion

The moment you open the packet, a bouquet of fresh citrus rises to meet you: lemon and orange peel, lemon myrtle and lime essential oil weave a bright, almost sparkling first impression.

On the palate, apple and quince wrap the cup in soft, rounded fruitiness. Lemongrass brings its clean, green freshness, mint adds a cool edge, while liquorice root leaves a long, gently sweet and soothing finish.

At the heart of this blend, green Rooibos plays a defining role. Native to South Africa, where Aspalathus linearis grows exclusively, it differs from its red cousin in one key way: it is not fermented. Air-dried to preserve its pale green colour, it delivers a delicate, grassy note that is softer and less woody than classic red Rooibos.

  • Top notes: lime, orange peel, lemon myrtle.
  • Heart notes: apple, quince, green Rooibos, lemongrass.
  • Base notes: fresh mint, sweet liquorice, elderflower.

How to prepare Green Point herbal infusion

Bringing out the full range of this infusion takes only a few simple steps. Green Rooibos and fruit pieces love near-boiling water and a generous steeping time.

  • Water: filtered, low in minerals, brought to 100°C.
  • Dosage: 12 to 15 g per litre, roughly a heaped tablespoon for a large cup.
  • Steeping time: 7 to 10 minutes, depending on the intensity you prefer.
  • Equipment: a glass or porcelain teapot with a wide-mesh infuser, to let the fruit pieces fully open up.

Unlike green tea, this infusion has no fear of over-steeping: it develops neither bitterness nor astringency, even after ten minutes. Feel free to let it rest a little longer without worry.

For an iced version, try a cold brew: 15 g per litre of cold water, 8 hours in the fridge, then strain and serve with a few slices of fresh lemon. A bright, refreshing summer drink and a natural alternative to sodas.

Storage

Keep your Green Point herbal infusion in its original packaging or an airtight container, away from light, heat and strong odours. Packed in our workshop, it retains its full fruity freshness for 18 to 24 months after opening, provided it is resealed carefully after each use.

Frequently asked questions

How do you prepare green Rooibos?
Use water at 100°C, at a ratio of 12 to 15 g per litre, and steep for 7 to 10 minutes. Green Rooibos never turns bitter or astringent, even with a longer steep, making it wonderfully easy to get right.

What is the difference between green and red Rooibos?
Red Rooibos is fermented: its leaves oxidise to a warm copper hue, developing woody and honeyed notes. Green Rooibos is unfermented: it keeps a tender colour and a fresher, more delicate, grassy flavour, closer in character to a mild green tea.

Where can I buy organic green Rooibos?
Our house offers a curated selection of organic green Rooibos in its dedicated range. You will find plain green Rooibos as well as original blends such as Green Point, which pairs it with fruit and citrus.

What are the benefits of green Rooibos?
Green Rooibos is naturally caffeine-free and rich in antioxidant compounds such as aspalathin. According to the ANSES, herbal infusions contribute to healthy daily hydration, without any stimulants.

When is the best time to drink Green Point?
Caffeine-free by nature, it is equally welcome in the morning or in the evening. Its fruity freshness makes it an ideal companion at lunch or during a quiet moment at the end of the day. Try it iced on warm days for a truly refreshing treat.
