In a nutshell: A rich Moka Thé blending black tea, coffee, cacao and cardamom. Brewing: 100°C, 13g/L, 3 to 5 minutes. Available loose-leaf, perfect for the morning.

Moka Thé: an enchanting black coffee-cacao blend

Our Moka Thé was born from a simple idea: to capture the warmth and depth of a indulgent coffee in a cup, without letting go of the elegance of a proper infusion.

This blend brings together a full-bodied black tea with coffee beans, cacao nibs and a touch of green cardamom. The result is a warming, rounded, lightly spiced cup.

At Thés & Traditions, we created this blend for lovers of deep, layered flavours. It speaks equally to coffee drinkers and devoted black tea fans alike.

If you're still deciding between the two worlds, green tea or black tea: how to choose will walk you through the differences in profile and drinking moment.

Ingredients and aromatic profile of Moka Thé

The recipe rests on four pillars: a structured black tea, coarsely ground coffee beans, generous cacao nibs and a hint of green cardamom. A natural chocolate-coffee aroma ties the whole blend together.

On the first sip, the roasted coffee notes come forward immediately. A bold, almost espresso-like opening that conjures the warmth of a café counter on an early morning.

The heart of the cup reveals the natural dark chocolate aroma, carried by the roundness of the cacao. A cocoa-tinged softness that mellows the roast.

In the background, green cardamom brings a spiced freshness, almost mentholated. An aromatic signature that calls to mind the Eastern traditions of spiced coffee.

This short, uncluttered ingredient list is our hallmark. Every component plays a precise role in the balance of the blend.

How to brew Moka Thé: the recommended method

This blend calls for properly boiling water to fully unlock its roasted aromas. Here are our recommended parameters:

  • Water temperature: 100°C, just-boiled
  • Dosage: 13g per litre, roughly one heaped tablespoon
  • Steeping time: 3 to 5 minutes depending on desired strength
  • Suggested volume: 1 litre to share, or 250ml for a single cup

Allow one level teaspoon per 200ml cup. Pour the boiling water directly over the leaves and leave to steep without stirring.

At 3 minutes, the profile is rounded and chocolatey. At 5 minutes, the coffee roast deepens and a pleasant bitterness comes through. Choose according to your mood.

For a latte-style version, top with warm, frothy milk and a touch of brown sugar. The tea-coffee blend takes on the character of a spiced cappuccino.

What equipment to use?

A glass or ceramic teapot works perfectly. Avoid cast iron, which retains heat too intensely and risks over-steeping the infusion.

A wide-mesh filter allows the cacao nibs and coffee beans to open up freely. This matters: a fine filter restricts aromatic development.

Variations and pairings: continuing the exploration

Moka Thé belongs to our family of indulgent black teas. A range designed for those who love bold, almost dessert-like profiles.

If you enjoy chocolatey blends, our chocolate tea is a softer option, without the coffee. For a more floral experience, you might explore our vanilla black tea, which leans into sweet, rounded notes.

For a pure, unflavoured black tea, Langminso Black Tea offers a structured profile that works beautifully as an everyday alternative.

Moka Thé also lends itself beautifully to cold brewing: steep in cold water for 4 hours in the fridge, add a few ice cubes and a dash of maple syrup. An iced coffee experience, reimagined.

Benefits of black tea moka

Black tea naturally contains theine, whose stimulating effects are well documented. The EFSA has recognised the role of caffeine (theine) in maintaining alertness and concentration.

The addition of coffee beans gives this Moka Thé a double boost of stimulating compounds. Ideal for starting the morning or sustaining focus in the early afternoon.

Black tea is also rich in polyphenols, antioxidant compounds studied for their role in cellular protection. General guidelines from ANSES on tea consumption suggest a sensible approach, around 3 to 4 cups per day for an adult.

Green cardamom, traditionally valued for its digestive comfort, rounds out this profile. A plant appreciated across many culinary traditions worldwide.

Try this blend in your morning ritual for an energising, pleasurable start to the day.

Storage: keeping the blend at its best

Moka Thé should be stored in its original tin or an airtight container, away from light, moisture and strong odours.

Avoid keeping it near a hob or pungent spices: tea readily absorbs surrounding aromas. A cool, dry shelf is all you need.

Packaged in our workshop, the product stays at its best for 18 to 24 months. Beyond that, the coffee and cacao aromas gradually fade in intensity, though the tea remains perfectly safe to drink.
