Its base brings together two great Indian teas, a malty Assam and a rounder South Indian black tea. Against this dark backdrop, crushed cacao nibs, aronia and red berries weave a deep, subtly winey fragrance. our full-bodied black teas to continue the journey.

The Aroma Profile of Gurudwara Black Tea

The moment you open the bag, the nose is drawn into a world of warm pastry. Cacao leads the way, followed by a bright, tangy burst of strawberry and blueberry. Aronia, a quiet but structuring berry, adds an almost winey note that recalls a great fruity vintage.

Top notes: ripe strawberry, wild blueberry, tangy redcurrant. Heart notes: crushed cacao nibs, cacao extract, soft raisin. Base notes: malty Assam backbone, woody roundness of South Indian tea, dark chocolate finish.

On the palate, the infusion is broad and velvety. The cacao coats the mouth without any bitterness, the berries lift the cup, and the tea's natural structure brings that characteristic depth you love in a fine black tea. A true dessert in a cup, with no added sugar.

For those who prefer more classic profiles, the black teas you need to know, according to the experts offers a complete overview of styles. And if you're torn between vegetal freshness and fruity roundness, our green tea vs. black tea comparison will help you decide.

How to Brew Gurudwara Black Tea

To bring out the full richness of this blend, four things matter: the water, the dose, the temperature and the steeping time.

  • Water: filtered, low in minerals, freshly brought to a rolling boil.
  • Dose: 13 g per litre, roughly a heaped tablespoon for a 50 cl teapot.
  • Temperature: 100°C. Black tea needs fully boiling water to release its malty, chocolatey aromas.
  • Time: 3 to 5 minutes, depending on the strength you prefer. 3 minutes gives a fruity, supple cup; 5 minutes produces a fuller, more structured infusion.

A porcelain or glass teapot works best, allowing the aromas to develop without interference. A wide tea infuser or paper filter gives the leaves and fruit pieces room to unfurl properly. Remove the leaves as soon as steeping is complete to avoid any bitterness.

This blend also makes a wonderful iced tea in summer: double the dose, steep hot for 4 minutes, then pour over ice. The berries come forward beautifully for a refreshing drink. Try Gurudwara Black Tea as part of your morning ritual for a gently indulgent start to the day.

Storage

Kept in its original airtight tin, away from light, moisture and strong odours, Gurudwara retains its full aromatic freshness for 18 to 24 months. Avoid storing it near spices or coffee, which could mask its delicate red berry notes.
