Popular in Asia, multiple steepings of black tea offer numerous advantages. On one hand, this form of infusion reveals the full spectrum of the plant's flavors. On the other, it significantly reduces the tannin and theine content. It's ideal as an infusion for children and pregnant women.
For good infusions, it is recommended to use whole leaves. Indeed, the powder from a tea bag releases its flavors more quickly in the first water. Leaves need several minutes to unfurl their properties. The water should not be too hot to avoid inhibiting the benefits of the drink.
To steep a tea bag multiple times, timing is crucial. For classic black teas like Darjeeling, you should increase the steeping time by one minute each time. The first cup has a stronger flavor. The subsequent ones are more delicate in taste and contain less caffeine. They are perfect for evening consumption to avoid stimulating effects on the body.
