How much loose-leaf black tea per cup?

For a quality cup, it is recommended to use 2.5 grams of loose-leaf black tea per 150 ml of water.

Brewing loose-leaf black tea for a rich, full-flavoured cup

Loose-leaf black tea, with its whole leaves, delivers a flavour that tea bags simply cannot match. To bring out all its aroma, precise dosing is essential. Too much tea results in an infusion that is overly bitter and high in caffeine. Tea bags may be convenient, but they cannot offer the depth of flavour that whole loose leaves provide.

For a perfectly balanced cup, use 2.5 grams of loose-leaf tea (about half a teaspoon) per 150 ml of water. Let the leaves steep for a few minutes in a teapot infuser. The water should be hot but not boiling. A splash of milk added after brewing can gently soften the flavour.

How much tea for a blend based on black tea?

Black tea pairs beautifully with other infusions for creative blends. It works especially well with Rooibos. To preserve the character of the black tea, it should make up at least 50% of the blend. When combining with stronger fruits such as berries, a higher proportion may be needed.
