Organic Ginger Lemon Rooibos: invigorating energy, caffeine-free

Our organic Ginger Lemon Rooibos is your everyday tonic companion, without a trace of caffeine. Blended from South African red rooibos, lemongrass (14%), ginger root pieces (11%) and natural lemon flavouring, it brews into a vivid, zesty and warming infusion. Perfect for energising your morning, easing digestion after a meal, or lifting a late afternoon slump without reaching for coffee or caffeinated tea.

Ingredients: rooibos, ginger, lemongrass and lemon

A clean, balanced blend: natural rooibos, lemongrass (14%), ginger (11%), natural lemon flavouring. All certified organic. With lemongrass and ginger together making up 25% of the blend, this is a particularly lively and aromatic infusion. Lemongrass brings a bright, herbal freshness; ginger adds its characteristic warmth and spice; and the natural lemon flavouring rounds everything off with a pleasing tang.

How it compares to our other lemon and ginger rooibos blends

For a green tea with the same ginger-lemon combination (with caffeine), take a look at our Yangtze Green Tea.

The benefits of ginger lemon rooibos

This blend brings together the virtues of several well-studied plants:

  • Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis): rich in antioxidants (aspalathin, nothofagin), naturally caffeine-free (source: EMA herbal monograph Aspalathus linearis).
  • Ginger (Zingiber officinale): traditionally recognised for supporting digestion, easing nausea and bolstering the immune system in winter (source: EMA herbal monograph Zingiberis rhizoma).
  • Lemongrass: traditionally used for digestive comfort and its soothing properties.
  • Lemon: a natural source of vitamin C in the flavouring.

Caffeine-free and theine-free, this infusion fits naturally into a healthy daily wellness routine, at any hour of the day.

Flavour profile: tonic, spiced, tangy

This infusion brews a beautiful amber colour with golden highlights. On the nose, lemongrass leads with its vivid herbal freshness, followed by the peppery warmth of ginger and a bright citrus tang. On the palate, ginger delivers a lively opening, giving way to the smooth roundness of rooibos, before a refreshing citrus finish. No bitterness, naturally thirst-quenching and energising, without any stimulants.

Brewing guide

How to prepare this infusion

Place in a teapot or tea infuser. Boiling water at 100°C. Rooibos and ginger handle intense heat beautifully, with no risk of bitterness.

How much to use

Use 15 to 20 grams per litre, or 4 to 5 g per standard cup.

Steeping time

Steep for 7 to 10 minutes to fully draw out the ginger's warmth, which needs a little time to fully open up.

When to enjoy it

Any time of day, and especially:

  • In the morning to start the day with a natural lift (a great alternative to coffee)
  • After meals to support digestion (ginger and lemongrass)
  • In winter to support your immune defences (ginger and vitamin C)
  • In summer as an iced infusion for a refreshing yet energising drink

Recipe ideas: iced tea, spiced latte, alcohol-free hot toddy

Ginger lemon rooibos lends itself to a whole range of recipes:

  • Iced tea: cold brew for 6 hours in the fridge, then add lemon juice, ice cubes and fresh mint
  • Spiced latte: a concentrated brew mixed with warm oat milk, turmeric and a pinch of pepper, for a caffeine-free golden latte
  • Alcohol-free hot toddy: infusion with honey, fresh lemon juice and a clove. Perfect for soothing a sore throat
  • Tonic smoothie: chilled rooibos blended with pineapple, fresh ginger and crushed ice

Frequently asked questions

Is ginger lemon rooibos good for digestion?

Yes, ginger and lemongrass are traditionally recognised for supporting digestion. A cup after a hearty meal can help you feel more comfortable (source: EMA herbal monograph Zingiberis rhizoma).

Does it contain caffeine or theine?

No. None of the ingredients (rooibos, ginger, lemongrass, lemon) contain any theine or caffeine. Suitable at any time of day, for all ages.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Rooibos is generally well tolerated during pregnancy, but ginger in large amounts may have an effect. We recommend seeking medical advice if in doubt. For a ginger-free alternative, try our Frosted Lemon Rooibos.

Can it be enjoyed as an iced tea?

Absolutely. It's actually one of our favourite summer iced infusions: thirst-quenching and wonderfully tonic.

Does it help with weight management?

Without making any miracle claims, ginger is traditionally associated with slimming routines (mild thermogenic effect). For a blend specifically designed for this, see our Slimming Rooibos.

Good for sore throats?

Ginger and lemon are a time-honoured combination for soothing sore throats, especially as a warm toddy with a spoonful of honey. Worth a try.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, with no theine or caffeine. For young children, brew it lighter (ginger can be quite spicy).

Order your organic ginger lemon rooibos and make this tonic infusion part of your daily routine. A natural alternative to coffee, rich in organic ginger and lemongrass, caffeine-free, and delicious hot or iced.
