At a glance: Our Spring Sweetness herbal infusion is a geranium infusion, floral and fruity (lemongrass, apple, verbena, lemon balm, rose). Steep 15 to 20 g/L for 5 to 10 minutes in water at 100°C, and enjoy any time of day or evening.

Picture a garden at the end of winter: dew still beading on petals, verbena unfurling, apple mint releasing its scent into the warm air. That is the feeling our house set out to capture in this floral creation, crafted as a breath of freshness in the middle of the day.

This caffeine-free infusion brings together thirteen plants and flowers, chosen for the way their aromas complement one another. The dominant flavor, soft and faintly rosy, evokes geranium, a plant long cherished in traditional herbalism. A geranium herbal infusion that is just as lovely warm in the afternoon as it is hot on a quiet evening.

The aromatic profile of Spring Sweetness

The first impression is bright: lemongrass delivers a clean citrus freshness, immediately softened by dried apple, which adds a gentle, rounded fruitiness. This opening sets the cup in motion, striking the springlike note the name promises.

Next comes the heart of the infusion, led by floral notes. Rose petals and buds unfold a delicate fragrance, supported by the natural aroma of orange blossom and mallow. Verbena and lemon balm, two classics of French herbalism, bring their characteristic herbal freshness and lightly citrusy roundness.

In the background, cardamom lends a faintly spiced note, almost imperceptible, while licorice root rounds out the blend with a natural sweetness that needs no added sugar. Lavender, used with a light hand, gives the bouquet a subtle Provençal touch without ever taking over.

The geranium character that defines the overall profile comes from the balance between rose, orange blossom, and apple mint: a trio that recalls the rosy, citrusy signature so typical of rose geranium (Pelargonium), a plant long used in herbalism for its aromatic properties. If you enjoy this floral palette, our Iced Melon Herbal Infusion offers a fruitier variation.

How to prepare Spring Sweetness

A great herbal infusion reveals itself when four parameters are respected: water, quantity, temperature, and steeping time. Each plays a specific role in drawing out the aromas of the leaves, flowers, and plants in this blend.

Water: choose a low-mineral water, ideally filtered. Water that is too hard will mask the subtle floral notes and weigh down the cup. Bring it to a rolling boil, then pour it over the herbs while it is still lively.

Quantity: use 15 to 20 grams of the blend per liter of water, roughly two heaped tablespoons for a 50 cl teapot. With a blend this rich in voluminous flowers, weighing is more reliable than measuring by volume.

Temperature: 100°C, a full rolling boil. Unlike delicate green teas, the dried plants and flowers in this infusion both tolerate and require truly hot water to release their aromatic oils fully.

Steeping time: 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the strength you prefer. Five minutes for a soft, floral cup; ten minutes for a fuller brew where the licorice and cardamom become more pronounced. Cover your teapot while steeping: it is essential for trapping volatile aromatic compounds.

This infusion is best enjoyed as is, without sugar — the licorice already provides a natural sweetness. You can also serve it iced: double the quantity, steep hot, allow to cool, then pour over ice with a slice of fresh apple.

The benefits associated with the plants in this blend

This infusion brings together plants traditionally valued in French herbalism. Verbena and lemon balm, two long-standing favorites, are recognized for their traditional use in supporting digestive comfort and relaxation in the evening, as documented in the monographs assessed by the EMA (European Medicines Agency) on medicinal plants.

Chamomile, part of the floral family, and lemon balm contribute to nighttime comfort in traditional uses documented by ANSES. Cardamom and licorice, iconic spice and root, have historically featured in infusion rituals for their aromatic properties and their support of the digestive system.

Moringa, a tropical plant with foliage rich in plant compounds, is the subject of several studies referenced on PubMed regarding its nutritional and antioxidant properties. Caffeine-free, this infusion can be enjoyed throughout the day, including in the evening, making it an ideal alternative to stimulating drinks after 4 pm.

Julien Huot, owner of Thés & Traditions, personally selects each ingredient from partner producers and crafts this blend in our workshop to ensure a consistently balanced aroma. Try Spring Sweetness to accompany your quieter moments, in the late afternoon or before bed.

Storing your infusion

To preserve the delicate aromas of the flowers and plants in this blend, store your herbal infusion in an airtight, opaque container, away from light, heat, and moisture. A stable temperature of around 18–20°C is ideal.

Avoid the refrigerator (too humid) and keep the tin away from strong spices or coffee, which would taint the floral bouquet. Consumed within 18 months of opening, the infusion retains its full aromatic freshness. Beyond that, the most volatile notes (orange blossom, lemongrass) will gradually fade.

Frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of geranium in an herbal infusion?
Rose geranium (Pelargonium) is traditionally used in herbalism for its aromatic properties and its soothing scent. Our infusion evokes this olfactory signature through a combination of rose, orange blossom, and apple mint, blended with relaxation in mind, day or evening.

How do you prepare a geranium herbal infusion?
For this geranium-flavored infusion, use 15 to 20 g of the blend per liter of water at a full rolling boil (100°C). Steep for 5 to 10 minutes depending on the strength you prefer, with the teapot covered to preserve the aromatic oils. Strain and enjoy as is, without sugar.

How is geranium used in herbalism?
Rose geranium is used in herbalism in several forms: as an infusion made from dried leaves, as an essential oil obtained by distillation, or as a hydrosol. In our blend, it is the aromatic profile evoking geranium that is sought, achieved through a carefully chosen assembly of complementary plants and flowers.

What are the main types of geranium?
Several species are distinguished: rose geranium (Pelargonium graveolens, Pelargonium bourbon), used in perfumery and herbalism; herb Robert (Geranium robertianum), a European wildflower; and ornamental geraniums. Each has its own distinct aromatic profile.

Where can you buy a quality geranium-flavored herbal infusion?
Look for a tea house that sources its plants and flowers from identified producers and blends them in-house. Our Spring Sweetness herbal infusion is packaged in our own workshop, using thirteen plants selected for their aromatic balance. Also explore our Autumn Herbal Infusion and our Winter Herbal Infusion to follow the seasons.
