Frosted lemon rooibos: an organic infusion with surprising aromas
We have composed this organic blend around natural rooibos, this South African plant with a naturally sweet and fruity taste that is nicknamed red tea. Rest assured: despite its name, it contains no caffeine. It simply offers a beautiful coppery color in the cup and a comforting sweetness that pairs wonderfully with citrus and vanilla.
To awaken this velvety base, we added lemongrass, lemon and orange peels. The result? A fresh and fragrant infusion, where the tangy notes of citrus fruits interact with the roundness of rooibos. The marigold flowers, discreet, bring a slight bitterness that balances the whole without ever overpowering it.
What this infusion can bring you
The organic ingredients in this blend are traditionally recognized for supporting your daily well-being. Rooibos is rich in antioxidants and minerals. It is valued for promoting peaceful digestion and quality sleep (sources: EFSA on hold list - Aspalathus linearis (rooibos) (ID 1234), EMA herbal monograph - Aspalathus linearis, European Pharmacopoeia). Lemon and orange peels provide vitamin C and antioxidants that help protect cells against oxidative stress and support the normal functioning of the immune system (sources: EFSA health claims on vitamin C). Lemongrass, meanwhile, is traditionally used to facilitate digestion and promote restorative rest (sources: EFSA on hold list - Cymbopogon citratus (lemongrass), EMA herbal monograph - Cymbopogon citratus).
Finally, marigold flowers are recognized for contributing to general well-being and relaxation. This alliance of natural ingredients offers you an aromatic and soothing break, without artifice.
Our tasting tips
How to prepare your lemon rooibos?
Pour boiling water over your rooibos and let it steep for 7 to 10 minutes. This is the time needed for the aromas to fully develop. You can enjoy it immediately, piping hot, or prepare it in advance to savor it iced.
How much should you use?
Use 15 to 20 grams per liter of water, or about 5 grams for a large cup. Adjust according to your taste: a little more for a stronger infusion, a little less if you prefer it lighter.
At what temperature should you steep it?
Rooibos loves boiling water, at 100°C. This is what allows it to release its beautiful red color and its full aromatic palette. Once steeped, you can enjoy it plain or add a touch of honey or vanilla according to your preferences.
When to enjoy it?
This caffeine-free infusion accompanies you at any time of day, even in the evening before bedtime. Hot under a blanket in winter, iced with a few ice cubes in summer: it adapts to all your desires.
