Green rooibos with red berries: a taste of childhood
Native to Africa, organic Aspalathus linearis comes in two forms: unfermented green rooibos and fermented red rooibos. Complementary by nature, both varieties come together in this infusion to create a flavour that is at once fresh and gently sweet. That softness is deepened by the presence of cornflower petals and blackberry leaves. From the very first steep, the warm scent of strawberry, grape and orange pieces carries you back to the carefree ease of childhood.
Naturally caffeine-free, the red rooibos releases a beautiful ruby colour that delights the eye as much as the palate. An instant escape to a place of warmth and quiet contentment.
The benefits of green rooibos
Like Honeybush, rooibos has long been a traditional drink across Africa. While red rooibos is better known, the green variety retains a higher concentration of antioxidants. Rooibos is widely appreciated for its ability to support digestion, regulate the gut, ease allergic reactions and promote restful sleep.
In this blend, we pair rooibos with calendula, a flower known for soothing the digestive tract and calming inflammation. Cornflower petals bring anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties to the cup. And the pieces of strawberry, grape and orange add their own quiet contribution, known to help support both the immune and digestive systems.
Brewing guide
How to prepare green rooibos
Our green rooibos infusion is simple to prepare: just add to a cup of hot water. For a rich, well-rounded flavour, we recommend steeping for 7 to 10 minutes. For something more intense, try pairing it with spices or herbs of your choice.
How much green rooibos to use
For a flavourful cup of red berry green rooibos, we recommend using 15 to 20 grams of the blend per litre of hot water, which works out to roughly one spoonful per cup.
What is the ideal brewing temperature for green rooibos?
To preserve the benefits of both the unfermented green rooibos and the fermented red rooibos, brewing at 100°C is ideal. Water that is too hot risks diminishing the medicinal properties of the botanicals and fruit pieces.
When can you drink green rooibos?
Completely caffeine-free, rooibos, whether green or red, can be enjoyed throughout the day and into the evening. It is a wholesome drink for the whole family, children included.
Why choose loose-leaf green rooibos
In loose-leaf form, our green rooibos is fragrant with generous pieces of real fruit. Unlike a single-use tea bag, the resealable flavour tin keeps the blend rich in taste and full of its natural benefits. Quality and properties stay intact thanks to this optimal storage format, leaving you free to use exactly the amount you like for your favourite recipes.
