At a glance: An organic Vata Ayurveda herbal infusion with warm notes of ginger, cinnamon and liquorice. Brewing: 15 to 20 g/L, 100°C, 5 to 10 minutes. Caffeine-free, perfect morning, afternoon or evening.

In the Ayurvedic tradition, each person carries a subtle balance between three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. When Vata, associated with movement, air and wind, is in excess, it calls for flavours that are sweet, warm and enveloping. That is exactly what our organic Vata infusion offers.

This Ayurvedic herbal infusion brings together six organically grown ingredients, chosen for their roundness and natural warmth. A comforting blend to weave into your daily ritual. Browse our selection of organic Ayurvedic herbal infusions to compare the three doshas and find the one that suits your profile.

The aromatic profile of the Vata herbal infusion

The moment you open the pouch, a warm, spiced fragrance fills the air. Pieces of ginger and cinnamon sticks lead the way, with anise weaving in a delicate, fresh sweetness.

On the palate, liquorice root delivers a naturally sweet warmth that coats the mouth. Ground coriander unfolds a lightly citrusy, almost sun-drenched note, while cornflower petals leave a subtle floral touch at the finish.

The infusion reveals an amber liquor and a balanced bouquet of rounded spices and gentle herbal notes. Caffeine-free and free from bitterness, this blend is easy to enjoy at any time of day, from early morning to bedtime.

How to brew the Vata Ayurveda herbal infusion

A perfect Vata infusion comes down to four simple guides: dose, temperature, time and water.

Dosage: use 15 to 20 g of the blend per litre of water, roughly one heaped tablespoon per 250 ml cup. As spices need room to open up, opt for a wide tea infuser or a cotton filter.

Temperature: bring the water to a full 100°C, then pour it directly over the spices and flowers. Ginger and liquorice roots, being denser, need properly boiling water to release their full aroma.

Steeping time: steep for 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the intensity you prefer. A shorter steep gives a soft, floral drink; a longer one brings out bolder spices and a more pronounced liquorice note.

Water: choose a low-mineral water to preserve the aromatic finesse of the blend. You can also enjoy this infusion cold: brew it hot, let it cool, then chill it, ideal for warm summer days.

Traditional benefits of the Vata herbal infusion

In the Ayurvedic tradition, this combination of spices is traditionally used to restore warmth and stability to those whose Vata dosha is in excess. The recognized properties of each ingredient provide the basis for their real benefits.

Ginger is studied for its contribution to digestive comfort. The EFSA has reviewed the traditional uses of ginger in the context of digestive well-being. Cinnamon, for its part, is listed by the ANSES among traditional spices to be consumed in moderation.

Liquorice root brings its characteristic sweet note: it is traditionally consumed in small quantities and is not recommended for people with high blood pressure or during pregnancy. Anise and coriander also support digestive comfort, as highlighted in several studies referenced on PubMed.

Julien Huot, founder of Thés & Traditions, personally selects each spice in this blend to ensure the freshest possible aroma. Try our Ayurvedic herbal infusion selection Vata in your evening routine for a comforting pause after a busy day.

Storage

Keep this Vata infusion in its original tin or in an airtight container, away from light, moisture and strong odours. Stored this way, the spices retain their full fragrance for 18 to 24 months after opening, packed in our workshop.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Vata dosha?
Vata is one of the three doshas in Ayurvedic medicine, associated with the elements of air and ether. It governs movement, breathing and circulation. When Vata is in excess, it often shows up as dryness, restlessness or light, disrupted sleep.

How do you balance the Vata dosha?
To bring Vata back into balance, Ayurveda recommends warmth, routine and gentleness: warm meals, sesame oil, gentle yoga and regular sleep. Warming spices such as ginger and cinnamon, both present in this infusion, are traditionally recommended.

What ingredients go into a Vata herbal infusion?
A Vata blend brings together warming, sweet spices: ginger, cinnamon, liquorice root, anise and coriander. Cornflower petals add a floral touch that softens the whole. Every ingredient is organically grown, in keeping with the Ayurvedic spirit.

What are the benefits of the Vata herbal infusion?
Traditionally, this infusion supports digestive comfort and a feeling of inner warmth. Caffeine-free, it can be enjoyed at any time of day and makes a welcome companion for an evening wind-down ritual.
