At a glance: Piña Colada Green Tea, a flavoured Sencha with pineapple and coconut notes. Brew at 75-80°C for 2-3 min, using 12-15 g/L. Enjoy hot or iced.
Picture a sun-drenched beach, a cool cocktail in hand and the warm breath of the tropics drifting by. Our Piña Colada Green Tea captures that sun-soaked moment in a cup, without a drop of alcohol. A playful, indulgent creation that reimagines the classic cocktail as a loose-leaf infusion.
This blend pairs the fresh, vegetal character of a quality green tea with the juicy sweetness of pineapple and the creamy softness of coconut. A gentle escape, perfect for mornings or any time of day.
At the heart of this blend is a China Sencha, a green tea with long, even leaves. Its pale, lightly herbaceous liquor provides the perfect backdrop for the exotic flavours layered on top.
On the first sip, pineapple brightens the palate: the candied pieces release a sweet, tangy flavour that stays true to the ripe fruit. The mid-palate opens up to the milky roundness of coconut, wrapping the tasting experience in an almost creamy texture.
On the finish, marigold flowers add a delicate floral note and a golden hue to the cup. Together, they form a sunny blend, balanced between bright fruitiness and gentle sweetness. Explore our other flavoured exceptional green teas to keep the journey going.
Getting the best from this infusion comes down to a few simple steps. Use 12 to 15 g per litre of water, roughly a heaped tablespoon for a 500 ml teapot. Heat the water to 75-80°C: any hotter, and the Sencha may turn bitter, dulling the fruit flavours.
Steep for 2 to 3 minutes, no longer. Green tea leaves release their aromas quickly, and over-steeping brings an unwanted astringency. Strain and enjoy without sugar: the pineapple and coconut already provide a natural sweetness.
For an iced version, double the leaf quantity, brew hot, then pour over ice. You can also cold-brew it: 10 g/L in a jug, left in the fridge for 6 hours. A wonderfully refreshing summer drink. Try our slimming green tea to mix things up.
Keep your tea in its original tin or an airtight container, away from light, moisture and strong odours. Stored this way, it will hold its full aroma for 18 to 24 months. To learn more, visit our guide to green tea.
