Made in Japan, from tinplate wrapped in washi paper, this tall Japanese tea caddy holds around 200 g of tea, sheltered from light, moisture and outside aromas. It forms a pair with the Tsukihi Cream, its solar counterpart.

The moon, night side

In Japanese, tsukihi (月日) brings together two characters: the moon and the sun. Together, they also mean the passing of days. This tin is the nocturnal version of that pairing. A large golden disc sits at the center of the design, crossed by an asanoha motif, the stylized hemp leaf found on Japanese textiles and papers. Around it: a deep midnight blue, touches of ivory geometric patterns, a silver-grey hill, and a few red plum blossoms. Gold lines on the lid and base complete the composition.

Keeping your tea at its best

Tea has four enemies: light, moisture, heat, and strong odors. An opaque, well-sealed tin guards against the first three, as long as you keep it away from the stovetop and the spice cupboard. Ideally, store one tea per tin: leaves absorb the scent of neighboring teas quickly, especially flavored varieties.

For cleaning, a dry cloth is all you need. Washi paper and water do not mix well, so avoid a damp sponge or the dishwasher.
