As tea lovers, you know that loose-leaf tea requires more preparation and you quickly end up with extra dishes — so we offer you a solution that allows for simple, convenient, and hassle-free steeping.
Tea bag, tea ball, or teapot — what is the best method for steeping loose-leaf tea?
- Tea bags are very practical for steeping loose-leaf tea — they take up no space and require no washing as they are disposable. But be careful: it is essential to choose unbleached bags, which is why we recommend using our empty tea bags, which are also biodegradable. Perfectly suited for steeping, they leave the necessary room for the tea leaves so that their flavors can fully develop. Bags also have the particular advantage of being able to steep very fine teas such as Rooibos, which passes through most other infusers.
- A tea ball strainer is a good alternative to the tea bag, but it is still inadvisable to use metal as it imparts a metallic taste and acidifies the tea. The tea ball is also too narrow — water does not circulate enough and does not allow the leaves to steep properly. It does, however, have one advantage: it is easy to clean.
- Finally, there is the teapot, which is also very practical when you want to prepare a liter of tea, but it is really not ideal when it comes to making just one cup.
As you will have gathered, for steeping loose-leaf tea, bags are truly the most suitable option.
