In a nutshell: a blackberry lemon black tea, bright and fruity, with lemon peel and whole blackberry pieces. Brewing: 100°C, 3 to 5 min, 13 g/L. Perfect for morning or any time of day.

Some teas are chosen for their restraint, others for their generous character. This blackberry lemon black tea belongs firmly in the second camp. It brings together the depth of a well-structured black tea, the brightness of fresh citrus and the lush, juicy quality of ripe blackberry.

At Thés & Traditions, this blend has become one of our best-loved fruity teas. It appeals equally to fans of classic black teas and those just beginning to explore the world of flavoured infusions. Browse our black teas to discover the full range.

Carefully selected by Julien Huot, the founder of Thés & Traditions, this blend reflects our approach: well-crafted tea bases, clean and readable ingredients, and an aromatic profile designed to become a daily companion.

Flavour profile of the blackberry lemon black tea

Once brewed, the liquor takes on a warm amber hue, luminous and almost copper-toned in the cup. The first nose is led by lemon peel: a bright, sun-drenched note that wakes the palate immediately. Blackberry follows, quieter but present, lending a rounded fruitiness and a gentle sweetness.

On the palate, the structured, silky black tea base cradles both fruits beautifully. The cup is open and direct, without excessive astringency, finishing with a light zesty lift that draws you back for another sip.

Top notes: the brightness of lemon

The opening is clean and almost sparkling. Lemon peel releases its essential oils within the first seconds of brewing, giving the cup an immediate freshness. This citrus signature is what makes this blend so instantly recognisable among our flavoured black teas.

Heart notes: velvety blackberry

Through the mid-palate, blackberry takes over. The fruit pieces, slowly steeped, release a scent of ripe, lightly jammy red fruit. This roundness balances the tension of the lemon and adds a gently indulgent quality that will delight lovers of fruity cups.

Base notes: the black tea foundation

On the finish, the black tea reasserts itself. Its well-measured tannins give body to the whole cup, leaving a malty, faintly woody aftertaste. The marigold petals in the blend add a subtle floral touch and bring a beautiful golden colour to the dry leaves.

If you are weighing up several fruity profiles, our guide to black tea will help you choose based on your aromatic preferences, with pointers for comparing bases, origins and blends.

How to brew blackberry lemon black tea

Getting the best from this infusion takes very little effort, as long as a few parameters are respected. The following method is one our team has refined through workshop tastings.

Brewing parameters

  • Water temperature: 100°C, just off a full boil
  • Dosage: 13 g per litre, roughly 2 teaspoons for a large cup
  • Steeping time: 3 to 5 minutes, depending on the strength you prefer
  • Water: filtered or low-mineral water to let the aromas shine

For a gentler cup, keep to 3 minutes. To fully reveal the blackberry and the structured base, steep up to 5 minutes. Beyond that, a slight bitterness may develop and mute the citrus brightness.

Recommended accessories

A porcelain, glass or enamelled cast-iron teapot works best, giving the fruit pieces room to open up fully. A wide-mesh filter, rather than a narrow tea ball, allows water to circulate freely around the leaves and peel.

If brewing directly in a cup, opt for an unbleached paper filter or a fine-mesh stainless steel infuser. The goal is to let the aromas move freely through the water.

Iced version for summer

This blend lends itself beautifully to cold brewing. Use 15 g per litre of cold water, steep in the fridge for 4 to 8 hours, then strain. The result is a crystal-clear infusion: the lemon acidity comes forward, and the blackberry turns wonderfully juicy. A perfect summer drink, with no added sugar needed.

A fruity option among our black teas

Within our flavoured tea selection, this blackberry lemon black tea holds a special place alongside other fruity blends. If you enjoy this citrus-forward profile, you might also love our tropical fruit black tea, with its more exotic character, or our Russian Earl Grey, where bergamot meets a bold, powerful base.

For lovers of pure, unflavoured black teas, our Hawaipur black tea offers a more contemplative experience, centred entirely on whole-leaf character. There is a cup for every moment.

Storage

Packaged in our workshop, this tea keeps best in an airtight container, away from light, moisture and strong odours. A metal tin or a resealable pouch will do the job perfectly well.

Avoid storing your tea near spices, coffee or any other aromatic products: tea leaves readily absorb surrounding scents. In the right conditions, this blend will hold its aromatic freshness for 18 to 24 months.
