At a glance: Organic Rooibos Earl Grey with natural bergamot, caffeine-free. Brew for 7-10 min at 100°C (212°F), 15-20 g/L. Perfect morning, afternoon or evening.

Picture the refined fragrance of a classic Earl Grey, free from any caffeine. That is exactly what this organic Rooibos Earl Grey delivers: the honeyed roundness of red rooibos wrapped around the bright, vibrant zest of bergamot, for a cup that is both comforting and luminous.

At Thés & Traditions, we wanted to reimagine this beloved aromatic classic by swapping tea leaves for our favourite red rooibos. The result is a wonderfully flavourful infusion you can enjoy at any hour, with no worry about sleepless nights.

The aromatic profile of Rooibos Earl Grey

On the nose, bergamot announces itself immediately: bright, zesty, with a subtle floral lift. This Mediterranean citrus, famous for defining the character of traditional Earl Grey, unfurls all its fragrant freshness the moment you open the pouch.

At the heart, red rooibos brings its characteristic smooth, velvety texture. Woody, lightly vanilla-tinged and naturally sweet notes cradle the citrus without ever overwhelming it. The cup reveals a beautiful deep amber liquor, warm and inviting.

On the finish, bergamot lingers with a cool, refreshing length while the rooibos leaves a gentle honeyed sweetness on the palate. No bitterness, no astringency: the hallmark of a soothing flavoured brew, as welcoming to sensitive palates as it is to seasoned tea lovers.

Our buyer Julien Huot carefully blended this product in our workshop, selecting certified organic rooibos and a natural bergamot flavouring, free from synthetic essential oils. Explore our other flavoured rooibos to continue the experience.

How to brew Rooibos Earl Grey

Brewing is beautifully forgiving: unlike tea, rooibos releases no bitter tannins, even if left to steep a little longer than planned. Here are our tips for bringing out all the finesse of this cup.

  • Water: bring low-mineral water to a full boil, 100°C (212°F).
  • Amount: use 15 to 20 g per litre, roughly a heaped tablespoon for a large mug.
  • Steeping time: brew for 7 to 10 minutes, depending on how strong you like it.
  • Equipment: use a wide-mesh filter or a French press so the leaves can open up freely.

For a summer iced version, double the amount and cold-brew in the refrigerator for 8 hours. The bergamot takes on a wonderfully crisp, crystalline quality that makes it especially refreshing.

The benefits of Rooibos Earl Grey

Rooibos is naturally free from theine and caffeine, making it an ideal drink for the evening or for anyone sensitive to stimulants. It is also suitable for pregnant women and children, in consultation with your healthcare professional.

This plant has long been valued for its richness in polyphenols, particularly aspalathin, an antioxidant unique to rooibos. The dietary guidelines from the ANSES highlight the value of a varied intake of antioxidant-rich drinks as part of a balanced diet.

Research by the EFSA on fluid intake also underlines that adequate hydration supports normal physical and cognitive function. A fragrant, soothing cup at the end of the day fits naturally into that balance.

Try this flavoured rooibos to close your evenings gently, or as a flavourful alternative to an afternoon coffee, without giving up the pleasure of a beautifully scented cup.

Storage

Store your rooibos in an airtight tin, away from light, moisture and strong odours. Kept properly, it will retain its full aromatic freshness for 18 to 24 months.

Caffeine-free, this rooibos completes our selection of Earl Grey teas to explore as you wish.
